This kit contains supplies for three tataki-zome projects, these three projects take you from beginning to advanced printing.
Intro Project, Notecards: Create four mini-prints and use them to decorate two notecards included in the kit. This is a great way to get familiar with the printing technique before moving on to bigger pieces. The two extra prints can be framed (frame not included) or used for other projects that you dream up (decorating notebooks or bookmarks is fun).
Intro 2 Project, Sachet Bag: Take what you’ve learned about printing so far and begin to refine it. Try adjusting the pressure of your hammering for different results, use your favorite plants from the notecards, or try new ones. Both sides of the bag can be printed, using a new muslin cover for each side. Fill your sachet with a small gift or fragrant herbs.
Intermediate Project: This project gives you room to create bigger designs, using a drawstring backpack as your canvas. In addition to your boranically printed backpack, the print making will result in an extra print that is the exact mirror of the print on the backpack. Your extra print can be used for other projects, such as sewing a wine bag or small pillow.
Advanaced Project, Silk Scarf: In this project you learn to print a larger piece of fabric by creating reflected designs on a silk scarf. In this project you also get a feel for working with a silk, often it produces water color like prints.
Supplies in this kit (all fabrics are pre-scoured):
Two blank notecards with muslin for print making
One 15” blank drawstring backpack and muslin cover piece
One 21”x21” blank silk scarf
One 5” x 7” sachet bag and two cover pieces of muslin
